Panthers Beat Commanders, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Carolina Panthers and the Washington Commanders, pitcher Bobby Villarreal was the difference between victory and defeat. The Carolina right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-1 Panthers win. Earning his 12th save for Carolina was Jason King. Carolina is first in the National Conference South with a record of 23-19.
Franklin Miniato hit a run-scoring double off Scott Elrod in the bottom of the second, which put the Panthers in front, 1-0. In addition to the double, Miniato had 2 singles, while going 3 for 4.
Villarreal said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
