Casas Excels, But Bears Win
|
The Chicago Bears weathered an outstanding game by Carolina right fielder Jorge Casas to topple the Panthers, 9-6. Casas was 3 for 3 with 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Chicago reliever Devin Mendoza picked up the win. Lane Shaw took the loss for Carolina. Danny Collins earned the save for Chicago, his 1st.
Isaiah Jones, who is tied for 4th in the NBC in doubles with 11, helped out the Chicago cause in the bottom of the sixth inning with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. For the game, the third baseman went 1-4 with a hit by pitch. He drove in 2 runs.
"You can't hate how you win if you win," said Chicago skipper Gregg Bianchino.
Carolina is 19-12 after the defeat.
