Lavareda Shuts Out Arizona, 5-0
Thursday, May 23rd , 2002
Teófilo Lavareda was in a mood to talk following the Philadelphia Eagles contest against the Arizona Cardinals, expounding to BNN reporters on his pitching philosophy. He had good reason to be excitable, having tossed a complete game shutout of the Cardinals, 5-0.
"There are three important elements in pitching success: location, location, and location," Lavareda said. "I was hitting my spots time and time again."
The right-hander blanked Arizona on a 5-hitter, allowing 2 walks and racking up 11 strikeouts.
To date this year, in 11 starts, Lavareda has crafted a 9-1 mark with a 2.44 ERA.
