Chargers Make It 4 In a Row with 7-1 Triumph Over Kansas City
|
Bill Wheeler brought his A-game to help San Diego defeat the Kansas City Chiefs, 7-1. The winner was Wheeler. He threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Corey Higgins. Kansas City drops to 9-14.
Nick Abernathy had a big bases-clearing double for the Chargers in the bottom of the second inning. With San Diego leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 25-year old left-handed pitcher Corey Higgins and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Chargers ahead, 4-0.
"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Wheeler. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
