Bears Stay Hot with Extra-Inning Win
|
The Chicago Bears topped the New York Giants, 4-3, in 11 innings at Giants Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Chicago pitcher David Panzella. Mark Schmidt, now 4-3, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. Devin Mendoza was credited with the save for Chicago, his 1st of the season.
Isaiah Jones, who is tied for 10th in the NBC with a .417 on-base percentage, had a direct impact on the outcome. Jones contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the 11th inning to put Chicago up, 4-3.
"We came out on top and that's all I can ask for," said Panzella.
Chicago is now 28-22. New York is 24-26.
