David Thompson was a major factor in the 7-5 New Orleans win over Green Bay. The Saints shortstop went 4-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. New Orleans pitcher Dave McMenemy earned the win, hiking his record to 1-1. Bobby Hynson suffered the loss. Edwin Flores earned the save, his 4th.

The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Clark Jenkins came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Green Bay pitcher Bobby Hynson, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting New Orleans on top, 6-5.

"We were able to put some good swings on some pitches," Thompson told the New Orleans Daily.

The loss drops the Packers to 17-14.
