|
In a low-scoring contest between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys, 34-year old right-handed pitcher Manny Alire proved to be the difference. The Philadelphia right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-2 Eagles win. Alire, the winner, moves to 1-2. He threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 3 walks. The defeat makes Dallas 15-13.
Nick Benedict took Dallas hurler Juan Castellon deep in the bottom of the sixth. His solo home run put the Eagles on top, 3-2. In all, Benedict had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
Alire called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
