49ers Jolt Panthers, 6-4, with Late Rally
|
The San Francisco 49ers had to overcome a fine effort from Carolina pitcher Isaiah Bass to win, 6-4, at Ericsson Stadium. Bass went 6.2 innings and allowed 4 runs. The win was credited to 23-year old right-handed pitcher Jorge Talavera in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Willie Lara took the loss. Carolina drops to 15-9.
San Francisco used a timely hit from Jesse Buss to get the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the 49ers ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
Buss called it "a solid win."
