Philadelphia Dealt 6-3 Defeat
|
The Atlanta Falcons beat the Philadelphia Eagles, 6-3, at Georgia Dome. The win was due in part to shortstop Nick Baumgartner, who was 3-4 with 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The save was credited to Chris Maria, his 6th. The Falcons, with just their 6th win so far in 2002, have yet to catch fire.
With Atlanta trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Baumgartner hit a 2-run single off Philadelphia hurler Manny Alire. It was the 20th hit of the season for Baumgartner and put his team ahead, 4-3.
"It's a long season," said Baumgartner. "We'll keep working to improve."
