Eagles Bridle 49ers, 3-1
|
The Philadelphia Eagles got a good effort from starter Teófilo Lavareda in defeating the San Francisco 49ers at Veterans Stadium. The final score was 3-1. Lavareda picked up the win for Philadelphia, going 7 innings. He gave up no runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 4-0. Chris Haeflinger earned the save for Philadelphia.
Philadelphia center fielder Kareem Taylor contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a curveball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 15th hit of the season and put the Eagles ahead, 2-0.
"It's nice to get the results when you're feeling good and throwing the ball well," said Lavareda after the game.
San Francisco, with the loss, is 7-9.
