Panthers Squelch Giants Offense in Shutout Win
|
Carolina pitcher Bobby Villarreal had a large part in his team subduing the New York Giants, 4-0. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. The Panthers, now 12-6, have been red hot.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Tony Gaxiola? The Carolina catcher had a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Panthers on top, 2-0. For the game, Gaxiola had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I like our moxie," said Panthers manager Tim Breidinger.
