Late Rally by Giants Secures 6-3 Win
|
The New York Giants beat the Philadelphia Eagles, 6-3, at Veterans Stadium. New York third baseman Carlos Rizo had an outstanding performance. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Joe Hager earned the save for New York, his 4th. At 7-3, the Giants have played well so far.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Dave Rondan came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Philadelphia pitcher Charles Calvert, he hit a 1-1 slider for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting New York on top, 5-3.
"The name on the front of this uniform is all that matters to me," Rizo told the New York Daily. "And padding the New York win column."
