The Washington Commanders and starting pitcher Carlos Martinez stifled the Arizona offense en route to a comfortable 8-0 win at Washington Stadium. Martinez picked up the win for Washington, going 6.2 innings. He gave up no runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 2-0. Washington, now 8-1, is playing great baseball to start the year.

Washington third baseman Tom Jones contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a curveball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 4th hit of the season and put the Commanders ahead, 3-0.
