Shaffer Belts 5 Hits
Sunday, April 28th , 2002
Some moments become linked with a particular player's career forever. Jacob Shaffer of the San Francisco 49ers had one of those moments when he went 5-for-6 at the plate in his team's 12-4 win over the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.
"I won't forget this anytime soon, and I don't expect it to happen too often," the 22-year-old left fielder told reporters in the postgame interview. "I'll be happy to just get a hit or two every day. Enough to hang around the league a while longer. Like 10, maybe 15 more years."
Jacob Shaffer doubled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, hit a two-run triple in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Jose Barrera in the 7th and struck out in the 9th.
Shaffer is hitting .356 in 2002 with 23 RBIs and 10 home runs.
