New England Patriots starter Matt Edde hurled his team past the Denver Broncos, 10-2. Edde, now 1-0, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. The loss puts Denver at 3-5.
Jose Ortiz had a big bases-clearing double for the Patriots in the bottom of the first inning. With New England leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 25-year old left-handed pitcher Tony Tamayo and swatted a double to left. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Patriots ahead, 4-0.
Ortiz told a New England Herald reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
