Starting pitcher Russell Hambleton gave the New York Jets a rock-solid effort. The New York native helped his team defeat the Cleveland Browns, 2-1, at Giants Stadium. The Jets now own a record of 17-31.

New York catcher Chris Berg contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a sinker to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 12th hit of the season and put the Jets ahead, 1-0.

"Tough loss," said Cleveland manager Mike Watson. "The kind that burns a little inside."
