Cincinnati and Baltimore duked it out and the Bengals came out victorious.

Cincinnati shortstop Willie Rivas was a significant contributor in his team's 6-3 triumph over the Baltimore Ravens. He was 4 for 5 with 4 singles for the Bengals. The winning pitcher was Joe Shea. His record now stands at 4-3. The left-hander went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits for the Bengals. Rich Muldoon was credited with the save for Cincinnati, his 9th of the season.

With Cincinnati leading 2-1 in the top of the seventh, Rivas hit a run-scoring single off Baltimore hurler Mike Bryant. It was the 12th hit of the season for Rivas and put his team ahead, 3-1.

"I don't lose sleep over a loss," said Rivas. "But I have better dreams after a win."

The third-place Bengals bumped their record to 19-23.
