Steelers Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
Steelers Field was the site of a true pitchers' duel.
In a low-scoring game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals, pitcher Brian Davis was masterful on the mound. The Pittsburgh right-hander spearheaded his team's 2-1 win. Tony Stone nailed down the save.
Pittsburgh catcher Hideaki Kato contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a curveball to right-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 5th hit of the season and put the Steelers ahead, 2-1.
"Tough loss," said Cincinnati manager Cody Ray. "Tough one to swallow."
Cincinnati now is 2-2.
