Fontana Slugs Raiders to 15-4 Win
The Oakland Raiders took on the Denver Broncos at Invesco Field at Mile High.

The Oakland Raiders topped the Denver Broncos by a score of 15-4. Leading the way was third baseman John Fontana. Fontana hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3 for the Raiders. The win went to Max Suarez in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Tony Tamayo took the loss.

Bobby Mellott had a big 2-run triple for the Raiders in the top of the third inning. With Oakland leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 25-year old left-handed pitcher Tony Tamayo and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Raiders ahead, 3-0.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Fontana told the Oakland News.

The Broncos, 13-15, continue their sluggish start to the 2002 campaign.
