Indianapolis Loss Tarnishes Fine Game by de la Cruz
Indianapolis got a terrific game from catcher Jon de la Cruz. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Cleveland, 9-7. de la Cruz was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Cleveland reliever Sam Persun picked up the win to move to 1-0. Ryan Elkins suffered the loss. Indianapolis falls to 17-13.

Cleveland took the lead, 9-6, on Nate Thomas's 1st home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Indianapolis pitcher Ryan Elkins in the bottom of the eighth.

"It was our day today," Thomas told the Cleveland Times. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
