Baltimore Beats Kansas City, 2-1
|
Baltimore and Kansas City played a hard-fought contest.
The Kansas City Chiefs wasted an inspired, 7-inning effort from starter Corey Higgins, falling, 2-1, to the Baltimore Ravens at Arrowhead Stadium. Mike Anders earned the win to go to 3-3. He allowed 1 run on 5 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts in 6.2 innings of work. David Morales earned the save for Baltimore, his 6th.
The Ravens got a big at-bat from center fielder Cesar Arellano. For the game, Arellano went 1 for 4 with a home run. In the top of the fourth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Baltimore a 2-1 lead.
"We busted our tails," said Kansas City manager Pat Harshberger. "But we came up short."
The Chiefs, now 10-17, continue their poor start.
