Bass Lifts 49ers to 6-5 Triumph
|
The San Francisco 49ers beat the New York Giants, 6-5, at Candlestick Park. The win was due in part to right fielder Khalil Bass, who was 4-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Matt Rufener was credited with the save for San Francisco, his 12th of the season. San Francisco has 3 straight wins, New York 3 straight losses.
San Francisco third baseman Eddie Carballo helped the 49ers go up, 6-5, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Carballo hit a run-scoring single off New York pitcher Luis Mercado.
"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Carballo.
